Got the 'New' harness in but.... 200

Well i replaced my old harness and it went in pretty easy. And not a moment to soon, I cut open the plastic covering off the old haness and discovers a multitude of bare wire lurking within.
After all is said and done, i now have a no spark problem(new cap and rotor going today). WHATS NEXT?!
Oh well at least i got a new harness lol
Pics Coming soon

put new cap/rotor button on..... 200

Fired right up very high rpms got the rpms down. Gave it some gas and it back fired thru the breather! i turned it off check every thing out and restrated ran ok , then back fire again! i check everything once again, find oil in gas in the oil (sigh). Checked the FPR no gas/ strong smell from vac line. Sooo am i right to assume that one or two cylinders are not firing and fuel is just dumping into they cylinders? Any help is much appriciated, i am getting so frustrated with this car. But i like it so i'll keep the TNT away for awhile.

if the idle is revving up real high after a harness replacement, i would suspect you might have crossed the throttle switch wiring and the constant idle motor wiring, the correct lead for the throttle switch has a blue tape on it to identify it. if you crossed them, you have done damage to the computer

Sounds like it may be time for a new FPR. Other threads have mentioned this as the culprit for gas smell in vac lines. Have you cleaned out flame trap, breather box, etc.? I will be undertaking the harness replacement soon, but I have to get everything cleaned under the manifold first.

Good Luck and keep me informed, it sounds like we are proceeding down similar paths.

Jeff

did you accidently disconnect the ignition harness while you were replacing the engine harness? what year 240 are you working on? check the brown and blue wires and connectors over by the right front shock tower, on the back side near the opening.
