144 parts 140-160

Hi Broken
I was asking about aftermarket intake and exhaust systems for a 73-144.I am looking ahead to see what is available for this car when I get it on the road.

    Intake:
If you have D-Jet FI, you already have the best intake you can get.

If you have carbs, well, most would argue that 2 SU's (properly tuned) is the best carburetion you can get.

The Weber DGV setup is available from ipd and others, but it's geared towards simplicity and economy, rather than performance.

The ultimate is 2x Weber DCOE. Now you're talking big dough.

    Exhaust:

Headers are darn near everywhere. There are 4-into-one designs as well as Tri-Y.

But with factory intake, the stock twin-port exhaust manifold is pretty darn good.

    ---
All in all, the factory stuff is pretty gosh darn good until you start modifying the engine internals.

and from that header back you can have just about any muffler shop build a custom exhaust that you probably won't be able to find anywhere and it might perform better than a professional one and would be cheaper. My advice is to find a shop that works with mandrel bent piping and go with a hi-perf. muffler and a resonator if you don't want it to be too loud and probably 2 1/4 inch piping. Have fun!
      Later,
