injector seal fuel spill 700 1985

Hi all. Thanx for all the posts on my problem. It is now warm enough to do some work. I found a leak at the #3 injector on my 744gle. I am going to replace the seals this w/e and I hope that solves the sputtering under load. Anyway I haven't done this before, and after reading the faq it seems pretty straight forward. However the faq suggests decreasing the fuel in the rail by vacuum, but my Haynes manual makes no mention of this. I don't have a vacuum pump so my question is how much fuel can I expect and at what flow? Is it a manageble dribble or am I getting a face-full ;). As well has anyone out there tried the Bosch platimum +4 plugs? Any comments on them? Thanx.

Forget the fuel pump fuse but it is possibly #1. Pull it and crank the engine until it dies and your pressure will be zero or crack the fitting on the fuel rail with your wrenches. Have a rag handy but not much will flow forth, usually just a brief spirt.
