Air box converted to cone/ good muffler to buy that is not honda ish 700 1992

It's me again.

I haven't even picked up the car yet and i want a few more hp. Anyways there was someone that use to post here that had a kit to convert the stock air box with a cone filter with a heat shield. i think he had everthing you needed for about 60 bucks. Could someone give me his email address? I did do a search but came up empty.

Also i want to get rid of the stock exhaust set up. I just want to go from the cat back.Loose the the first muffler and replace it with straight piping then have it go to a rear dynomax muffler.I have a Magna flow cat and muffler on my '88 245 now. Maybe cut the cat off that car then install on my new '92 745 and just buy a dynomax muffler. What do you think? What are other mufflers i could buy? Magna flow is a good muffler but it sounds kinda ricey on my 245. I want something that is not farting when i give gas. Right now i don't want to spend a lot of money because after buying the '92 745T,don't have much left. What i may do is work on the suspension/handling first before all this other stuff. On my '88 245 i made the mistake of focusing other things instead of doing the suspension work.

Thx.

Can't help you with the intake...

I put a 2 1/2 inch, cat-back exhaust on the 744ti last Friday, a single Magnaflo. I like the sound, just slightly louder than stock, sort of a low rumble that I can hear under the whine of the turbo. We tried a Flomaster but it was just too loud.

Read the FAQ or go to turbobricks.com for info on EFFECTIVE airbox mods. The cone air filter is NOT the way to go.

Also, a very inexpensive solution to exhaust is to remove the rear resonator and put a piece of straight pipe there...frees up the exhaust quite a bit. Add whatever tip you want or just use a long enough piece of exhaust tubing. You'll need to fabricate a hanger from a piece of 1/4" rod and clamp the hanger to the pipe so the rear resonator doughnuts will hang the pipe.

I've eliminated the rear resonator on my 90 740 turbo and it works well, but kind of drones on the highway. Next time around I'll replace the whole system including the cat (emissions are kind of high now anyway, cat is prob fused) with a high flow cat and 2.5" exhaust, IPD sells a 409 stainless that looks durable.

Ive got a 765 turbo wagon. I went cat back on the exaust with 2 1/2 inch and a Walker Turbo muffler on the end. I'm really happy with it, i havent herd any other car sound quite like it. The only complaint I have is that with the wagon, being the big acoustic box that it it, it will reverbrate in the passanger compartment with all the windows closed. but only when my foot is off the gas, decel. Its fine at cruise and great with my foot in it. I think the biggest problem is the large cargo area, if you have a sedan i doubt it would be quite so loud. but with the wagon its noticable, not annoying, but u do hear it.
