5-speed (M47) 240s 200

If I wanted to find a decent 1991-93 240 with a 5-speed manual, how hard would they be to come by? I very seldom see any 240 with stickshifts these days, and my guess would be that almost no one got them during the last years in the '90s.

I'm selling one of my two 1993 240 Classic 5 speeds (burgandy, black cloth, 125K, extremely well maintained rust-free TX car). Interested?

When friends of mine wanted to buy a new 93 245 in 93. It took the dealer
about 2 months to get one in the color they wanted. They are out there but
you need to be patient. I just bought an 89 244DL with M47. Your search has to be regional rather than local. Wish you well.

I remember a colleague of mine buying a 244 with the M47 in '90 or '91 -- the dealer had one on the lot and said, 'This is it; they're not bringing any more of them over'. Remember, in the mid-80's the 245 was *the* car for the 'soccer mom' crowd; to sell them to that cohort, they essentially had to be equipped with AW's and the M47s languished on the lots. Most of those 245s were subsequently replaced with minivans which, in turn, were replaced with SUV's.

Check the prices of used M47s vs. used AW71s. The M47 is way more expensive as a used trans, I suspect a reflection of their scarcity. If you think it through and you're absolutely set on having a manual, you might want to get a nice late 240 auto and dig up a used M46 and have it put in.

There were only a small percent in the US market. By 93 it was approximately five or seven percent.

"Approximately". Maybe someone with a pocket protector can offer better information.
