240 turbo boost gauge 200

Hello,

I have a Volvo 240 turbo boost gauge, the one with the yellow and red zone.
Does anyone know the scale of this gauge ?
I guess the end of the yellow zone is 14.7psi and the end of the red zone is about 22psi, can anyone confirm this ?

Best regards

Stefan

It depends 200

What the various color coded sections mean depends entirely on the gauge you have.

If you've got an early one (from a non factory IC'd car) you'll have one set of ranges, if you've got the later one.. you'll have another.

Throw in the condition of your vacuum hoses, and perhaps significant variations between various Volvo branded gauges.. and the closest answer you'll get is "maybe".

If you need a calibrated gauge, get a calibrated gauge.

I read that the end of the yellow is about 10psi, and that seems to be correct. My 83 TURBO no I/C used to go about to the middle of the yellow, I added a graduated boost gauge because I'm also adding an I/C, the stock wastegate is set to pull 5.8psi, I took it out yesterday to test the new gauge and it pulled a 5.5-5.8psi. I also nearly got busted by the state troopers.

I think the middle of the yellow area is 10psi because that is the max pressure on a stock turbo and thats as far as mine goes.

My 84 goes to about the top of the yellow when the high RPM solenoid kicks in over 3700 rpm, which I assume is about 10.5 psi. 14 Psi is about halfway through the red. I know this because I drove without a wastegate for awhile and this is where the overboost switch cut me off. I don't know if the non-intercooled cars have a different gauge.
