need help with a broken automatic choke on a weber 120-130

its a 64 122 with one weber carb. it was an automatic choke but i guess it wasn't working so the previous owner just kept it closed and would pump it and give it gas to start it. the plastic cover is now gone and the choke is disabled. how can i make this into a manual or fix the automatic? i've been unable to find anything to help me.

They're not convertable, actually... 120-130

at least, not with OEM Weber parts.
The housings on the DGV differ significantly from DGAV and EV carbs. So your best bet might be to revive the auto choke. It's not that bad, if you spend the time to fuss with it and get it working RIGHT. Sadly, none of the manuals I have really cover the operation of the choke, nor how to set it properly... maybe I'm missing the good manual?

with a few 2002's that run Webers...

Electric choke on those is nothing but a bimetal strip in a coil shape. Heat makes it uncoil, cold makes it coil tighter.

12V from the ignition heats the coil slowly. It takes perhaps two-three minutes for it to go from fully coiled (choke on) to fully uncoiled (choke off) just from the ignition being on. The single wire connects to any source that's 12V only when the ignition is on.

Heat from a warm engine, or just underhood temp on a hot sunny day, keeps it uncoiled for a good while after the ignition is off again.

It's adjustable by loosening three screws and then rotating the electrical unit. Obviously set it so the choke opens fully with the engine warmed up. You can play with how long it stays closed -- there's a fair range of adjustment that will still result in it opening fully when warm.

yeah, but there's a bitt more than just the twist! 120-130

of course you can set the idle- up screw on the choke, which opens the throtle more or less,
bu then there's the vacuum breaker that pulls the choke back with significant engine vacuum, and it's adjustable, if you pull the seal out of the end! It also fails, which will mess you up, too...
fwiw,
t

Among others, Pierce Manifolds has parts. http://www.piercemanifolds.com/.

rus;

First, you might want to check if IPD or other Weber handlers have replacement parts...Webers, especially currently sold carbs, should still be well supported.

Cheers
