Driver seat repair update. 200

sure enough the foam is split almost top to bottom.

I found nothing at the wreckers today. Im thinking about trying an adhesive. Ive read here that some have had luck going that route.

All suggestions, advice, opinions are solicited.

Thanks much.

Lawrence

This stuff will glue the foam - it's called "GOOP" and comes in a toothpaste sized tube and you can get it at Home Depot. There are several formulations, but the "Household" stuff is probably OK. I've used it to glue foam isolation strips to the radiator support of a truck I was doing an A/C job on a few years ago.

I believe that IPD sells new foam cushions.

Once you see their prices, they won't look like an option any more (NMI) 200

I had a split back. I used foam spray adhesive to close the split and then glued canvas on the inside and outside of the split area to reinforce the foam. The split, which was on the right shoulder area of the driver's seat has held now for over a year. This gave me a chance to fix the seat heaters while all was apart.

Driver seat repair update. 200

Recently repaired the seat in an '85 240. Foam was broken and wire supporting frame not doing its job.

Carpet was cut to sit between wire frame and foam. Wire frame was returned to its original shape with the help of plastic ties. It appears to have worked well in supporting the foam.

Hope this is of some help.

Take care,
John H from Downunder
