engine harness problems? 700 1989

Is a 1989 740 non turbo likely to have the same electrical harness problem with insulation going bad as has been described wih the mid 1980s 240 harnesses

The wiring was supposed to have been improved starting with the 1988 model year in both 240's and 740's. Turbos were more likely to develop problems because of the extra heat under the hood. I drove a 1985 NA 240 for 14 years and I currently own a 1987 740T both suffered from the rotting wiring harness syndrome. Your '89 should be ok, but leaking oil could still cause wiring insulation to go bad...

Good Luck,
JJ
