Further SU-HS6 tuning Questions 140-160

Hi all,
O.K. I will first need to source a Pierburg fuel pump, the one I have now pumps alot more than 3psi.
As well I did a compression test and came up with..135, 145, 115, 140, 120, 135 on a 74 B30F. Is this resonable compression? Would I need to address cyl. #3&5 before a smooth idle is achieved?
As well what tools would I need to do the valves myself? This would be my first engine repair.
Thanks in advance,
Tim

Further SU-HS6 tuning Questions 140-160

RPR and most other Volvo places have the Pierburg pumps. They are standard
for B16, B18, B20 and B30. Be sure and get 2 gaskets and the plastic
spacer too.

120 and 115 are kinda low but I would not think they would affect the idle
unless caused by a valve problem.
Put about a tablespoon full of oil in each cylinder and check the compression
again. If they come up, they were low because of worn rings. If not,
it is probably a valve problem and a valve job would help.

If you are going to do a valve job I'd recommend that you pull the head
and take it to a good automotive machine shop and have them do it.
They will have the equipment to do it right. Hand lapping is better than
nothing but it is not a substitute for a proper grind on an engine that old.
(unless it had a proper valve job in the past year or two).
