Flame Trap/Vacuum Fitting 900 1991

My car is a 1991 940 (Turbo). I recently cleaned the flame trap contraption but not the fitting on the manifold. How does one remove the intake manifold fitting going to the flame trap for cleaning? Thanks.

    Does anybody have a picture of this animal so I can see what you guys are talking about? I thought turbos did not have a flame trap.

      Turbos don't have the flame trap, but they do have one of these buggers:





      Bottom fits a ~2" hose that goes to the oil breather box. Top fits the hard plastic pcv hose that runs across the valve cover & into the air intake after the AMM and before the turbo. The smaller nipple (the broken bit) connects to a ~8" vacuum line running to a metal nipple on top of the intake manifold.

      Not sure exactly what this is called, but if you take it out to clean it, be careful... it might be sorta brittle (see photo)! I also broke the long (hard, brittle plastic) pcv hose when I was cleaning it up... and I swear I'm not a gorilla when handling these things!

    Usually you can just poke something through it, like a paper clip or other wire. IF it goes through easily, it wasn't plugged.
