What solution to clean IAC on 93. Carb. cleaner? Degreaser (kind?) 200 1993

Suggestions on what solution or chemical to clean IAC with. FAQ says degreaser and some may know exactly what type...not me.

Brand name of a degreaser? Will carb cleaner eat it, or kill the IAC?

I think I have the IAC that one cannot open (re: faq). Tips on doing a good job with my kind?

Thanks. I'm still fighting a rough idle and what looks like a skip, or something.

Thanks.

CRC Brakleen or Carburetor cleaner both will do a nice job cleaning it and not hurt anything. The plastic parts are designed to deal with gasoline and oil so they're pretty well impervious to solvent attack.
Alternately you could soak it in kerosene or gasoline but I think spraying it out and a little work with a rag and maybe an old toothbrush will do it.
Afterwards lube it with a little 10W30, or 3-in-1 oil, or Marvel Mystery Oil (my favorite old-school product!)
    Good luck!

Thanks! All set. Easy job. It wasn't all that gummed up. It's shiny in there now as far as I can see. The valve moves quite easily. All in all, I'd say that wasn't the problem causing my "shakes". Seems to idle maybe, just maybe a bit smoother, but that may be the cleaner fumes talking. :)

Again, thanks for the help. At the very least I tightend stuff up on the hoses and eliminated another variable.

Time to clean the injectors...that is send em out for cleaning.
