Is there a low windsheild washer indicator on the dash? 900 1992

volvo 940 GLE (16v B234F) 1992 ('91 US) 50K miles sedan

Should I have a 'low windsheld washer' indicator on the dash?
Were these available? Was it an option? Is the bulb there?
Can I install one (my wife's car, she never refills in time...).

There should be a dedicated place in the instrument cluster for it, at least there is one in the 700 series. Volvo installed the float switch for this function on all US 700 series I have seen prior to the 1990 model year. Starting then it was evidently an option. Easy to install. Get the float switch and install it in the reservoir, and install a warning lamp in the existing socket in the instrument cluster.

Look carefully at your owner's manual. It will show this washer fluid warning lamp if it was offered as an option. If it was, the wiring will all be in place.
