Swapping a Garrett T25 for a Mitsu?

Can I swap my Garrett T25 (the small one) for a small mitsu (TDO4 I believe) straight up, or are modifications needed? This is for a 91 740T.

Why are you going to swap?

John, I had my T25 rebuilt about a year ago and it is not boosting properly and smells like its burning oil. Of late I've had very strange acceleration; the boost will rise very quickly but the engine revs do not comply with the turbo. It is difficult to explain. I have the wastegate shortened all the way and only get about 9.5 psi of boost, which is ridiculous. Plus, I've driven a 740 and a 940 with the mitsu and I liked them a little better; they had quicker spool up.

Thanks for the insight. Your catalytic convertor could be plugging up with those symptoms. The Garretts have a reputation for lasting a little longer than the Mitsubishis.

Forgot you will also need different pipe mounting studs for water and oil on the turbo. The Mitsu uses smaller ones. These used are ok also.

    You will need the following:

Oil feed line from engine to turbo
Both water lines to turbo (the metal ones)
Oil return from turbo to block

Advise to get new oil feed line, but the others used are fine. The turbo bolts to the manifold directly with no problems. At first I thought there was a problem, but seems to work with my 91 940 SE.
