Trunk Release- Wiring Question 200 1985

Can I use the black wire that is the relay wire for the power antenna (unused) for the relay wire for the trunk release? Also, Can I use the green wire that is for the power for the power antenna for the power for the Trunk Release (it is also unused) Thanks for replies.

Don't do that! 200 1985

The power antenna connections are hot at one time or another. SB (aka black) is hot when radio is turned on, and GN is hot when the ign key is in position I or II. SB only hot gives antenna retraction, SB and GN hot gives extension.

The power trunk lock works way different. It is tied into the central door lock system. They work on reversing polarity. So for unlocking BL is hot, Y is ground, when BL is ground and Y is hot, the system locks doors. Same color coding on all five doors.

To enable the trunk release, there needs to be another harness from the lock back to the upper left corner where the antenna and tail lights harness gointo the cabin. It oughta be there.

Good Luck,

Bob

The green wire is always hot back there. And the black wire was molded into the same insulation as the antenna wire and it was not connected at either end. I just got done and it works. Thanks anyways.
