I'm going to drain and fill the rear diff on my 1990 745 GL.
How many quarts capacity and should I drain once, refill and drain again, then fill for real?

How do you drain these things? I only see a plug for topping it off. I'd also love to replace the 12 year old fluid with something synthetic and slippery...

Gunk falls to the bottom so the first drain should catch most of it. Try a synthetic for better running: Mobil 1 or Valvoline.
