God awful noise when turning 900 1995

Yet another problem that I have been experiencing on my 95 960. I get a awful loud moaning sound when I turn the wheel (either direction). The noise usually occurs when after I crank the wheel into a parking space, let it sit for a minute and when I try to pull-out and straighten out the wheel a loud moaning sound appears. It seems to be coming from the left side around the steering colum and front tire region. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Is it a metallic resonnating sound, almost like a musical tone?

Is so, it could be a loose brake caliper or disc whis is deflecting from the lateral forces during turning and causing a sort of brake squeal.

my '84 does this and I need to keep gong under to thghten the caliper mounting bolts using Loctite. (probably should just replace them)

But I also suspect (and will check) the wheel bearings for loosness.

Is the fluid up to the proper level? Are the tires properly inflated. On mine, if the fluid is low or the tires low, it makes a knocking sound, from the cooling pipes infront of the drivers side wheel.

Guess: Power steering pump. Open the hood, have an assistant turn the wheel and try to locate the sound.

Do you have the wheel turned all the way when this happens? Most power steering pumps make a godawful noise when you have the wheel all the way to one side or another. Also make sure the fluid is high enough
