Still desperately seeking 1993 BlACK 240 sedan 1993

I am still looking (have been for six months) for a 1992 or 1993 black 240 sedan. I Have ben scouring the internet, everyday, autotrader, cars.com, ebay, and every site I can find for the elusive black 240 with under 100000 miles. I realize how drastically I am narrowing my search by specifying the color black, but I think that they look the best. If I was looking for a white one, I would have found it months ago. There are five times more white ones than black. It is amazing how many people don't even put the color and miles of the car they are selling on cars.com, I have made 30-40 long distrance calls, only to find out it is the wrong color or high miles.Anyway, I have gotten some good leads here before when I posted about this, but nothing has panned out. I just missed a 1993 black 240 with 50000 miles in virginia, makes me sick........... any help would be appreciated. You see, I can't buy a new 2003 KTM 450 dirt bike until I find this car for the old battleaxe, she is standing her ground, so any help is appreciated, maybe some websites I have not found yet.

Seems like painting a car black should be relatively easy. Find a dark blue one and have at it. I don't even think I ever saw a black 240 that was not painted. I have a white one and I love it. Since the AC on these things is weak, white paint is the best you can do in the summer. Black will fry whatever is inside I imagine. But if you must have black, you must have black.

Good luck.

Does it have to be in really good condition, or would you consider something that needed some TLC?

Chris,
Thanks for your response. Yeah, I would prefer something that is in good condition, however I realize I am talking about a 10 year old car. What are the details on the car?

None at the moment, but I've seen one or two that might have qualified.

Exactly as you said. A ten year old car is subject to a few faults here and there. I'll keep my eyes peeled. I think if your search criteria is realistic, you will find one. Of course everyone wants a cream puff 93 with 28000 miles... but realistically you might find a car you're interested in. The more time you have the better.

If you know a used car dealer, you might be able to have them find one. Or you could go through one of the ebay wholesaler/dealers. A lot of those guys (the ones who are dealing a lot of cars) see a LOT of pieces at auction. Plus the well connected ones can contact their wholesalers and find cars that you want. Pretty soon you can have almost exactly the car you want. As long as you don't get too silly about "and it has to have a sunroof and a tan interior and a 5-speed and miles under 50k" then your chances greatly improve.

I'm just suggesting this, having worked in that business.

If you suggest or even pretty much commit to buy one for a certain price (i.e. plan on spending exactly that price because that's what you'll get charged), a good wholesaler will find one.

Also if you break the 100k rule and take miles up to, for example, 110,000, you stand a little more of a chakce. 100k is the cutoff between "good miles" and "miles over", which can make a big difference at an auction. However, there are still a lot of 240s with miles under.

Little wong,
Didn't realize the "whole world" was on the brickboard, but thanks for enlightening me. Just like if you don't like what someone is saying on talk radio, you can always turn the dial, nobody forced you to read my post.I guess some men are just less endowed than others , and have to lash out in some pathetic little way to make their mindless selves heard.
BOOHOO.

Have a nice day.
