1984 245 ti canadian FPR

Alright!
I am getting sooooo frustrated trying to find the fuel pump relay on my '84 245 turbo ic.First there's nothing under the passenger's side footwell. Under the driver's side there is a 1"x1"x2" six prong box. Is this the FPR? I do see a little black relay(looks like a lamp relay of some sort). Other than that, there isn'y much else...Is there a difference between the Canadian 245ti and the American 245ti? Please, please, please give me some insight on this...I am getting intermittent problems not starting and I have gone through this whole forum trying to get info. One thing though, the external fuel pump is making some buzzing sounds...I think it is a little too loud to be normal. What is the other round canister next to the pump?(actuator?).Also, I don't see the 25 amp fuse under the hood on the left fender that I keep hearing about...I will keep trying to figure this thing out...Thanks
Ron

It is on the driver's side. It will be green or funky puke yellow. Closest to your left foot or some times tucked up above your left foot.

There is no 25 amp fuse in a 240 turbo. Buy a Bentley manual.

Buzzing can be somewhat normal. Not starting could be the relay or pump itself.

No difference Can to Us 245Ti.

Yes your fuel pump relay is in the center console.
They can be silver, green, or red.
The fuel pump noise you describe is a common symptom of the in-tank (feed) pump failing- or just not running because of a relay failure. However, I don't believe the main pump will run at all unless the first relay (the one that also runs the in-tank pump) turns on.

You have to remember that the Turbo has fuel injection from an earlier family of Bosch systems. Nothing wrong with that, but you should realize it's different from a "normal" '84. By 1984 the base engine had progressed to a different, more modern system with a more accurate air-measurement device. The Turbo models were already scheduled for departure and Volvo wasn't spending any more money on developing injection systems, so it kept the old system.
A lot of this info is in the Haynes manuals, most in the Appendix sections in back. So a lot of the features common to all the later cars like that fuese holder, don't appear on yours.

        1984 245 ti canadian FPR - your left foot! 200 1984

        Look at the models owned.

The fuel pump relay in a 81-85 240 turbo will be closest to your left foot when seated in the drivers seat. Drop the underdash liner and pull back the carpet (by your left foot) you'll find it.

There are other relays in the center console (OD, door locks, turnsignal, etc) but the FP relay is not there. The BB is not a panel of experts it's just owners answering questions. I don't know squat about 700/900's, for example, because I don't choose to own them - and unless lube or common engine/part question I don't venture guesses to those questions.
