Brake Shoes for 1965 with GIRLING Brakes 120-130

Does anyone have the RIGHT part number for the rear shoes for my Girling equipped 1965 122? I was told that Raybestos 1158 was the right shoe ... but after ordering them in, they turned out to be the shoes for the WAGNER equipped cars. Would appreciate any info you can come up with ....

Brett,

Have you tried your local Partsource? I have had amazing success finding parts at reasonable prices for my 67 123GT (with Girling rear drums). If you get a desk clerk without pimples, they're pretty good. I had to do a little bit of filing of the spacer bar that holds the shoes apart, but otherwise they fit fine. I can't remember what I paid, but that's probably a good sign.

Since ou're trying to keep the costs down and no one mentioned it. Just get the old shoes re-surfaced, cheap and easy. Did the rears of my old 65 for $20.00 CDN.

Are the shoes that much different? I've only seen one kind in my life and
they work fine on mine. My wheel cylinder pistons are flat on the ends.

Hi George ....

Apparently, yes, they are different. Apparently the cylinders are noiticably different and certainly the adjustments are most definately different ... mine has small 1/4" square external adjusters rather than the internal cog type with automatic adjusters..... Apparently these Raybestos shoes will fit models older including the 544 and models after 68.... from what I have been able to find out, from about 62 to 68 they installed the Girlings rather than the Wagners.... at least in the Canadian Plant.

Typically those brakes were from '63 to partway through the '67 model year. I don't have a manufacturer's part number, but I've always goten them from RPR (exchange) for a sensible price. RPR part number is 081-1141.

HI Phil ...

many thanks ... I just ordered a set from RPR ... actual price with exchange was only $2.00 Cdn higher than the other pair I had and returned .... I paid Cdn $43.75 +15% GST for them and had it refunded ... the RPR parts work out to Cdn $ 55.56 including US$6.95 shipping... sure look like the right description .... GEEZ the doggone 65 is one of those cars where they were making changes ... ran into the same problem with upper ball joints ... ended up swapping upper control arms to the newer style ....

George ... the ad says they are for the FRONT of the 4 wheel Drum brake cars ... do you know for sure that they will fit the back ? I had to cancel my order to RPR as the shipping doubled the cost of the brake shoes .... somehow I don't feel like paying $100 for a pair of $29.99 brake shoes ....

Brett,
I've purchased rear shoes for Amazons at least a dozen times here in small town Victoria,B.C. with no problem at all. I'll get you a part number and post it Sat. night. I looked through my files and only came up with invoices for the
P1800 and 544.
Jim

Brett,
The part number 468PG.
The shoes are for 63/67 122. Although I have a 68 Canadian 2dr that uses the same shoe. The list price has gone up to 46CDN. If the shoe on your car are diffenrent than the ones in the picture????????

No, the front drum shoes are the same as the Wagner rear ones, unless they came from a wagon -- and those don't fit anything else.
