when cold engine hesistates, won't rev up, turn off start again and it goes away. 700 1988

my 88 760 gle always has this problem when it's cold. after the car warms up there's never any problem, but when it's cold and i try to accelerate (it will be idling fine) it starts to sputter and almost die, but doesn't quite. then it idles bad until i turn it off and start it again. then it'll idle fine again, but if it isn't warmed up yet and i press on the gas it stumbles again and starts running funky....any ideas?

Hello Harley:

I had the same problem with my 89 760GLE-- it turned out that it needed a fuel pressure regulator, which costs less than $40 from online sources like FCPgroton.com. It takes about 20 minutes to install. I did plugs at the same time because the failed FPR resulted in rich running, which fouled up the plugs.

Good luck-- let us know what fixes things for you!

My 245 was doing that in addition to some other weird stuff the problem is i changed/cleaned/patched so many things that I can't really say what the problem was.

well, i changed the FPR today, i'll see how it goes later, i haven't had a chance to drive it yet. i was thinking it might be the AMM or coil. i guess i'll find out. thanks for the input
