engine dies when passing 700 1989

my 740 turbo intermittantly lacks power to pass. It's like the engine is starving for fuel. I can feather it out and cruise at 60-70 running smoothly.
Plugs appear to be running a little lean.
A while back she was running rich secondary the a stuck fuel pressure reg value
so I have replaced it within the past 3 months:
Stuff replaced:
1: fuel pressure reg value
2: fuel pump ( the old one was good!!)
3: fuel filter
I don't smell gas from a possible leak.
any ideas? computer? something growing in the fuel tank?

inputs would be appreciated.

Hey 007...have you noticed that your 700 dies when passing a particular 'make' of other car...perhaps another Brick...or BMW, Mercedes, etc..could simply be a case of vehicular 'Love'...perhaps you need to pay a visit to 'The Car Psychic' to get to the root of the problem...good luck!

    Easy:

Somewhere in one of your intake hoses, there is a probably a tear or a hole that only gives you problems when you really go into boost. That's when the computer give the engine gas for the mass of air it expects, but instead, it only gets a fraction of the air because it's dumping the rest of it out of the ripped/holed hose.

That equals a very rich mixture.

The engine could be running fine the rest of the time, but only running rich for small periods of time. therefore the plugs might not look like they are running in a rich environment.

It would be the most likely cause. Some holes are VERY hard to find, but if you're careful, you'll find it. And it takes only a small hole or tear to cause that problem.

There are other potential causes, but this is by far the most likely.

another problem that occurs is the overboost pressure switch starts cutting out the fuel pump. happened on one of my cars, took me months to figure it out. the pressure switch just gets really sensitive for some reason. anyways, i just bypassed it. it's located in line with the ground for the fuel pump relay if i remember correctly.

Thank you for the input. I look for vacuum leaks and if I can find the overboost switch I'll eliminate it. Also the next time I in LA I'll take her to a car psychic.
