'90 760 turbo dies when put in drive 700

The 760 wagon started fine, began sputtering after driving for just a few minutes, then died. It will restart but as soon as I put it in drive it starts sputtering, goes nowhere, and then dies. Idle is rough. It does fine in park or neutral as long as I keep the RPMs at or above 1000. The weather has been very very rainy, but there is no obvious sign that water got into anything, but I suppose it's possible.

    could possibly be your air mass meter, had a 240 do exactly the same thing, kinda pricy. try a salvage yard first.
