Steering wheel play 200 1982

I have the very slightest amount of steering wheel play, noticeable when the car is stationary. I'm sure its within normal limits. However, I'd like to get rid of even this. I don't think its anything in the suspension, like bushings. Would it likely be the steering rack, or a coupler in the steering column? Thanks.

    Steering wheel play 200 1986

on my '86, I had a small amount of play in the wheel, and it turned out to be the lower steering u-joint/coupler. if it's bad, it'll be easy to tell just by turning and shaking it. That'd be my first thing to look at, especially because it's a lot cheaper than a steering rack. good luck

Ball joints? grab the right wheel at 3 and 9 o'clock positions. See if there is any movement/play. Do the same for the left one. Any difference? If yes then probably ball joint on looser one.

The ball joints are good. One I just replaced, and the other was replaced by previous owner not too long ago.

Well, something's loose. See if you can get an assistant to rock the steering wheel while you watch the steering components.
