what is the brace on the firewall in the engine compartment for? can't find a good picture of one to post.iv'e seen them in other cars but my car dosen't have one. dose any one know what the brace is for. thanks

Are the braces you're referring to on 200 series cars? If so, those are to stiffen the front structure that supports the Macpherson struts. The 200s benefit from this reinforcement, but the 140-160 don't need it. They are beefy enough with their double A-arm suspension as they come.
