1985 245's rear hatch handle? might be going to the yards once my back recovers(long story)to find a replacement. I tried to fix my old one with JB Weld But no luck. The problem is one of the little round "hooks" that hold the pin that engages/disengages the lock is missing. I tried To place a washer on the broken side to give it it's form back.

    the correct match can be found on a '68-'74 145, or a '75-'85 245.

The black handle from a '86-'93 is a direct bolt-on, and I've never had one fail.

1985 245 Cargo Door? So a post some time back that newer (non-chrome) doors will fit OK, have a better glass installation, and use the same hinges. There's a difference, maybe, in the window washer arrangement. Any thoughts about doing the whole door?

    Regards,

    Bob

At some point, the sill latch changed. The one on my 1992 is different from the one on my 1980. Haven't looked to see whether the newer type could be carried over to the old body.

      Good luck.

I'm talking about the striker--the body-side half of the latch (NMI) 200 1985

I don't know which style an '85 has. My '82s (got three of 'em at the moment) have chrome handles, my '86 has a black handle, and my "spare" '90 tailgate has a black handle....

When I bought my 86 245 (used) the cargo door had rust on the seams and on the flat part on the bottom of the glass. The bodyshop suggested to buy another door rather than spend tons of money fixing the rusted door. I got a door from an 81 wagon and it fitted well. In retrospect I wished I would have bought a door from a newer one (90 +). The glass is flush with the body and seems to solve the problem with rust and leaks.
