Boredom, Shock nut, and cheap 3/8' extention = Busted lip. 200

Got really bored today after work and felt like working on the car. So I decided on putting on my rear shocks. Simple enough job, that is till I saw all the undercoating on the upper nut. Clear some of it off grab a ratchet, 6" 3/8 extention, and a 19mm socket and go to town. I kind of sat up and leaned on the quarter panel alittle and gave it all I had. BAM!!!! Cracked the housing of the extenion right in half. Slammed my face on the panel and split my lip wide open.
Cheap Taiwan extentions. Run upstairs and grab my real tools. 1/2" drive Craftsman. Last time I try that jap crap again. Anyway, got the shocks off, they were dead to the world. No return on them at all. Why didnt I change them eairler?
Also replaced my headlight yesterday. It amazing how much more light there is when you have clear lense's.
I'm hitting the yards this weekend looking for the 245 springs. Figure I'll toss them on while I'm changing the sway bars out. I'm so glad I sold my motorcycle, I really missed working on cars.

Peace out
Patrick

You broke an _extension_? I've had a lot of cheap tools and most of them suck, especially ratchets, but I thought extensions were pretty indestructable. Almost all my extensions are Harbor Freight or Wal-mart brands and I've never broken one. However, I agree with Bram that at 19mm, you want to be getting out the 1/2" drive sockets, especially on suspension work.

Yup. Cheap tools and too light, too. For anything over about 15mm I default to 1/2" drive (or 3/4" for the really big stuff - thank you Dutch army for putting those nice 3/4" socket sets into the dumpstore market...)
