WILL P205-60-R15 TIRES FIT ON A 1989 760 GLE SEDAN?? 700

Hello again!

I want to change my P195-60-R15 tires over to some good P205-55 or 60-R-15 tires. Will they fit without rubbing and or causing significant suspension issues? How much of a benefit would it be to upgrade to this size??

    I have 215/60/15s on a 89 740GL.Your car being a 760 with the Nivomats in the rear will sag a bit in the before the Nivomats will "pump up" again.I am thinking that while the rear is sagging you might run into some "rubbing" problems.

    At one point, I had 205/70/15's fitted on my 745. 205/60/15 will fit just fine.

    All else being equal, you'll gain a little traction (wider contact patch) at a slight expense of handling (slightly taller sidewall). Also, wider tires would have a greater tendancy to hydroplane, but 10mm difference will not affect anything worth writing about.

    What kind of tire were you thinking of anyways? This would have a lot of significance to it too.

      Dunlop SP 5000'S or Dunlop A2's. I have experience with the SP 5000's from my 96 nissan maxima se.

        You've done your homework, then. :)

        Lower on the price scale, but still high on the performance, you may also want to consider the Kumho KH11's or 716's (which is what I have on my 745).

            I would highly recommend Yokohama AVS-dB tires, super quiet (something that Volvos at speed definately need). They have good wet weather traction as well as very nice handling qualities. The only negative that I have found is that they are not good in snow, no big deal to me since I've got snows on another set of rims, but maybe a dealbreaker for those hoping to get an all-in-one tire...

            Another big thumbs up for TireRack.com, been buying tire from them for 15+ years.
