Is it safe to purchase an engine wiring harness from www.ipd.com? 200

I went online and was thinking of ordering an engine wiring harness from IPD. Is this company reliable? Ok, i'm thinking I should buy the harness and then find a mechanic to install...

IPD sets the model for customer service. I've been dealing with them and cars equipped with their products for almost 30 years (you should see my file cabinent full of their newsletters and catalogues). They are the best...though as others have pointed out, not the cheapest.

I have nothing but nice things to say about ipd. I have placed 8-10 orders with them over the last 5 years and never been let down or even slightly disapointed. They get the little details right.

I got over the sticker shock of owning a Volvo a while back. If you want sticker shock take up flying for a hobby.

Hehehe...I have taken up flying...talk about sticker shock, I own a Cessna 172M, Beech Baron, an '82 Range Rover, not to mention my trusty old '85 245 GL. BTW, ipd sells a repair kit for your existing harness which allows you to replace only the affected wires and not have to completely replace the whole harness. They also sell a kit which reroutes the harness such that it doesn't have to go under the block.

hehe, I heard that. I damn near had a heart attack after my neighbor showed me the bill for getting the little 4 banger in his Piper rebuilt!

I would almost have to say that out of all the volvo places on the net... ipd has to be THE BEST! They may not always have the best prices, but hands down.. they beat EVERYONE with the service and performance parts they carry. They also have a really cool catalog that I don't think any home should be without :)

IPD is a great company and will make sure you get the correct harness. Superb customer service. A little more expensive but worth it.

Tippi- with all of the time that you've spent on posting questions about your wiring harness, you could have done it yourself by now. It really isn't that tough.
      Good luck.

Unfortunately getting under a hood with grease all over my hands is not my style. I only posted questions to educate myself before I went to an independent mechanic.

If I couldnt work on my own car I dont know what I would do? I go to the yard every weekend just to hang out and take stuff apart, I think they should teach you to how to change your oil and tires when your in Drivers ED. And I used to call up dealers afterwards to see how much it would cost to fix something that I just did. A pretty sad person I am, but every time I touch my car I thank my father for dragging me out in -5 degree weather to watch him change a ball-joint.

I'm a huge fan of IPD but I'd probably still check out FCPGroton. I've never bought anything from FCPGroton but they are a bit cheaper. IPD happens to be local for me and I have met most of their sales people in person and I can attest tht they are very knowledegable. I usually spend to much time asking questions after spending $5- on a part and feel guilty about it later but they have never seemed to hurry me out. They are a wonderful outfit. You might also ask them if they know of a good mechanic in your area.

This company is very reliable. I have returned items or asked they be replaced and the staff at IPD complied. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to Volvos, as they have been selling and developing Volvo modifications since the early sixties. If your looking for a specialty item, IPD probably has it. If your lookung for an everyday Volvo part, compare the prices with other reputable parts houses. If I needed a wiring harness, I would more than likely get it from IPD.
