Stuck throttle 200 1988

My accelerator VERY occasionally sticks. It did last nite at an inopportune time, that is turning onto a snowy road, and landed me in the ditch. Fortunately a lot of snow to absorb the blow, so no harm to me, the dog, or the brick, and a tow truck winched me out pretty easily. I used 3 in 1 oil around the cable etc last night, but it still stuck once on the way home. I'll use a bunch of PB Blaster tonight, but wondering if there is one particular place to look that may cause this. Thanks ahead of time.

I haven't heard of the 240 throttle sticking but they do get deposits in the throttle body which are right at the throttle plate. You might try pulling off the accordian type air hose at the throttle body and checking for deposits. If you find them, you can do a so-so job of cleaning by wrapping a rag on your finger, spraying the rag with carburetor cleaner, holding the throttle open with your free hand and wiping the deposits out with the rag. Don't spray carb cleaner into the throttle body since it may damage the idle position switch.

P.S. I had a Ford Taurus in which the throttle plate started hanging up on the inside of the throttle body. Probably due to wear at the shaft the trottle plate pivots on. The fix was a new throttle body ($$$$$). Of course the Ford had nearly 30,000 miles on it so one would expect thigs like that to be worn out. (sarcasm!!!)
