Dying on accel; idle and slow accel OK 900 1991

Posted problem previously, but now have more diagnosis on my 1991 940 turbo.

Started cold (-5 Deg F this morning) and test drove using heavy acceleration letting turbo kick in and OK.

After warming up wanted to die (I mean back fire and really die) on heavy acceleration. Happened about the time turbo kicked in. Drove for half an hour and seemed to get better. If give gradual accel, even with turbo kicking, it was fine; but heavy accel, runs rough.

I checked vacuum hoses and air intake hoses (unless interior vent vacuum problem), and can't find any splits or disconnects. Could this have anything to do with temperature a sensor or the spring door watchamacallit in the air filter box?

Any help appreciated. This is a new one on me.

    i cant elaborate past that
    i'm afraid i am but an ankle biter in the volvo world

    however i had this problem and it was the AMM

    it's $$ too

    i got lucky and the volvo shop i take my car too gave me a used one (thier test one) for $100

    i think IPd refurbishes them?? not sure

    wish i could be of more help.

      Yea, thought about AMM, but thought it would cause idle and all speeds to run rough. When yours went, did it just run rough during high acceleration?

      I've never had one go to know.

        when mine went the idle was rough
        when i applied a little gas it would drive (very roughly)

        but if i hammered the petal the car would cut right out

          I little gas I'm fine, but heavy, like you say, cuts out. Make it is not completely gone and this is the problem. I'll check it out. I think a resistance measurement can be used.
