pump in gas tank problem? 700 1990

We have a 1990 760 turbo wagon that has ittermitent running problems.It seems to run out of fuel with half a tank of gas still in the tank. Just about all the fuel system components have been checked out or replaced except the pump that is in the tank.Has anyone had this problem or have been into the gas tank for prooblems?

    The pump can be tested by measuring the current it draws at the connector. It's about 2 amps

    Those are some of the symptoms of in-tank pump failure: it fails when the fuel level drops. It can also be a broken hose in the tank.
