Main & Rod Torques 700

Hi:

Can anyone help me with Main & Rod Bearing Bolt torques for a 1992 B230FT? My Chilton's Manual say 80 & 14 Ft. Lbs. 14 seems too light for Rod Bolts.

Also are there any special considerations during assembly? (Like application of Locktite, etc.)

Thanks
Warren

For B230 connecting rods, torque to 14 ft-lbs, then angle tighten 90º. Check the rod bolts for length before re-using. Maximum length is 2.185".

Hi John:

By angle tighten, do you mean an additional 90 degrees after 14 Ft. Lbs.? There was no mention of that in the Chilton's Manual. I'm glad I asked, I have a Haynes on order.

Thanks
Warren

That is exactly what it means. Torque to 14 ft-lbs, and then tighten 90º more.
