02 sensor replacement on 89 240 wagon..easy repair? 200

By the sounds of things..I believe my 02 sensor is shot or is in need of cleaning. My Check Engine light is coming on. Even after I disconnect the battery it comes back on after a few kilometers. Gas mileage appears to be suffering substantially, although doesn't seem to be running too rough. Am I going after the right monster?

Tough replacement or relatively easy one? Or is this one of those finicky problems that drives Volvo owners crazy.

JAmie,
you can get the OBD codes at the link that Art gave you, however the Bentley manual will help you with using the OBD.

02 sensor replacement on 89 240 wagon..easy repair? 200 1989

Jamie, if you can't locate a manual (Bentley) on Sunday morning, follow the directions for LH2.4 / EZ116K in this link to the 700/900 FAQs and then post what you find out. There's lots more you can do without tools after seeing that light come on. El Raidman is correct.

Jamie:
What does the on-board diagnostic unit say? What are the codes??
If you don't have the Bentley Manual yet, get one, learn about the codes and do your own sleuthing.
We'll help, but give us more info.
