Mine was named by the prior owner "Rover." We tend to refer to it as "The Volvinator" or "Volvi." Are we the lone freaks calling our car names or do you have a name for your brick?

The white DL is named the refrigerator....because he's a dependable old appliance. Nothing fancy..it just goes.
Wife's VW is putt-putt, because she made that sound on her first trip home.
The new turbo is, as of this printing, unnamed.

1980 245, maroon (Damascus Red)--Lester. It's got an ugly-pick-up quality, and a little bit country. It seems like more of a boy-car because it's got a stick.
1992 245, "metallic tan"--Goldie. It's lots more refined but still a bit flashy.

'89 744ti is Ilsa
'82 245 we called Helga, which strangly enough, was also the name of my '58 Porsche 356A
'73 145 was the Screaming Yellow Zonker or The School Bus...you can guess his color.
'70 142 was usually called POS...figure it out
'67 122S didn't have a name...I was too young and stupid to realize what a great car she was. I threw her over for a little red MGA. No Volvo has ever put me through what that pile of junk did...wish I still had them both though ;-)
I get my new silver 242t tomorrow. It will be named Rikard in honor of the patron saint of all quick bricks, Rikard Rydell.

The '88 245 became "Rumblegutz" at about 150k before I learned enough to replace all the bushings! Retired after being rear-ended at 250k, the replacement '92 245 is now "Son of Gutz."
I refer to the kid's blue '91 244 as Blauenstein, but he doesn't.
The wife's '97 855 doesn't have a name since she lacks a soul. (The antecedent of 'she' I leave to the reader.)

Celia - '88 745 GLE - still around for chores, my favorite brick
Dudley - '87 744 Turbo - gave his life for my daughter when the drunk driver smashed into him at an intersection
Evander - '90 744 Turbo - for sale
Felicity - '90 745 GL - sold
Gayorg - '95 855 base - In Ithaca NY getting a master's degree
Hattie - '95 854 base - In Connecticut - getting married soon?
Isabel or Rod - '96 855R - Mom's toy (That's what I tell her) - still debating this new arrival's moniker - Rod is out of sequence.
BTW - previously named vehicles
Annie - 1986 1/2 ton Suburban
Bubbah - 1988 3/4 ton Suburban
When we bought Celia, everyone fought over the brick, so I got rid of the Suburbans!

The name's in the signature below. I load it up with my canoe and camping gear and I feel just like a kid with his red wagon.
When I was 17 I had a '78 Accord that was blue with patches of flat black where I attempted rust repair. That car was dubbed "The Bruise" by my friends.

1980 240 wagon, (owned since new) The Green Been - as in it's been a good car, with luck and good maintenance it will continue to be a good car! 177,000
1992 240 wagon, Golda, named for the color and for Golda Meier. The car needed a strong and enduring name. 165,000
The non-Volvo cars in the family have never had names.

Mine is named after a female dog, but that might have something to with my ex giving it to her attorney as part of the expense's of her becomming an ex. So after years of working on the car to keep it tip-top, plus saving the cost of maintenance at a shop, (if I only knew then, what I know now)I seemed to have developed feelings of animosity towards that particular car. I really would like to have a DNA check done on the car, even though it isn't mortal, it sure acts like it's female.

I might be on to one in Arkansas. I'm emailing a fellow down there as he is fixing one up - 84 245ti.
Of course I'm still looking for the Black 93 245ti Classic (4stick+OD) that was maintained by a team of naughty Swedish Supermodels for years in the secret underground lair beneath the factory in Gothenberg and then shiped to the States last week with 1200 miles on it. I'm hoping they will take $2000. ;)
Keeping the dream alive one oil change at a time!
