Nice find! Rare car, with the M46. Should be a pretty solid car
as far as teh driveline goes. WIth a new turbo, you're as good as gold.
Yes, in fact all the 740/940T cars are intercooled. When going over it,
pay close attention to those big rubber hoses to the intercooler and intake,
looking for accumulated oil and the subsequent rubber-rot damage that
happens when a turbo spews oil through the system. Any pinholes (or worse!)
must be addressed right away.
When planning the upgrades, include a lower control arm brace- you'll be pleased with the results. It's a steel bar shaped like a W that goes under the engine. Lots of interesting 15" alloys out there for it, but only 1 factory choice for 16", which is the Hydras that came on '90 740T, and 91-94 940T cars. If you're interested. I think your wheel style, the 5-spokes that resemble the 240T (VIrgo) wheel, is called the Draco. They're just about the lightest factory wheel combo you can get, but do bend rather easily and regularly- look for a couple of spares if you plan on keeping them.
Have fun with it!
