740 gle 16 valve - hard start when warm 700 1990

Worked on by independents and dealers but no fix.

Runs lean, hard start when engine warmed up.

Engine will stall when not under load at highway or street speeds.

Your ideas are welcome since the dealer still is trying to solve the problem.

Happy New Year

740 gle 16 valve - hard start when warm 700 1990

This is one of those back to the basics, and it amazes me the dealer with alltheir testers can't find it.
Something is telling the engine to run lean, all the symptoms you describe would be a run lean problem. The dealer should be able to verify this by looking at the pulse width of the injector opening.
Anyway, likely candidates are as Nate suggested the engine temp sensor, also obviouosly the O2 sensors, and maybe the intake sensor the hot wire thingy (damn can't think ofthe prpoer name now). ANd these can be tested, so don't let them just throw parts in.
I always have thought that if a repair shop puts in a part that doesn't fix theproblem they should either take it out, or not charge you for the repair!

error codes? 700 1990

What errors are you getting? Instructions on how to read them are in the faq (link below) real easy, no tools required. OBD connector is on driver side (US) strut tower. I would read the codes, clear the memory and see what errors it continues to log after that. post back with findings.
I'm going to guess engine temp sensor, just a guess.
good luck
- Nate
