Fuel line replacement from filter to rail.

I was replacing the fuel filter today and noticed the fuel line is in crappy condition. It looks like the PO hit an animal as there is a bunch of hair around the fuel pump/filter cage, real nice to work around. Anyway, I'd like to replace the hose that connects the filter to the fuel rail. Is this a special type of hose besides fuel line it looks reinforced? Can I get this hoe from anywhere or is it Volvo specific? Do I buy the new one with the banjo fitting or does the banjo fitting come off (how)?

The info in the FAQ was unspecific:
Fuel pump to fuel filter. 1/4(6mm) ID "fuel injection" (what is that?) hose. 3” long.
Fuel filter to Fuel injection rail.

C, I tried doing something related not too long ago. Check it out:

my site and then punch in the word 'fuel' for the search word. then check out the entries i put in regarding a fuel pressure gauge.

in short, i called many many places looking for a length of hose that would work, and no one carries the kind of hose that is required, which is some sort of plastic hosing reinforced by an outer rubber material...except Volvo. i might not have mentioned it in my entry, but volvo wanted nearly $75 for the length that ran from the fuel rail to the fuel filter. by the way, i have a regina system.

i'm pretty detailed, or at least i try to be, regarding how thick the actual fuel line itself is. the inside diameter of the hose IS 1/4".

the banjo fitting is pressure fit (VERY tightly) onto the hose.

also, whatever you do, do not use hose that is not fuel line. fuel will eat right through rubber like nothing.

Where did you end up getting the hose? How does the banjo fitting come off the end of the hose?

I like your site. I wish I had more time to put a site together.

I never did get more hose. I ended up cutting the original hose and splicing a T fitting in for the gauge. I was looking around for a spare hose just in case the cut/procedure went bad. Luckily, it didn't.

I have no idea how to remove the banjo fitting, but it is very tight. I believe most people just go to a junkyard and pull the thing off an old Volvo.
