85 760 water on drivers floorboard 700 1985

Hello and thanks. Drivers floorboard. Closes to seat, but still in the foot well. Corner closest to console. At any given time I can reach down and squish water out of the carpet. Obviously a leak. Tasted it once, not coolant. Was under car last night and noticed a rust hole (pulled rust away and could see foam). Also surface bubbling in the same area -- obviously a leak has been present for a while; all this cancer was forward of the fuel pump and filter. Directly below the coresponding area. What is really weird is that the pool of water does not seem to correspond with rain water. I had it in the garage for over a week once and there was still moisture in this area. Has anyone experienced this as well? whats the fix?

Possible sources: air conditioning evaporator drain plugged; rust holes around windshield; footwell vent cover is loose and leaking. Suggest the latter as a first step. See the FAQ.

if the carpet is really wet a week wont dry it out unless you live somewhere REALLY hot...

good point ! I live in washington state (alot of rain) our hottest day isn't even hot. I suppose I could remove the carpet from the vehicle and watch for the leak. I did not want to drive around without carpet.

if you have rust in there you are going to have to pull the carpet and really dry it out and treat the rust undertyhe carpet itself or you might as well not bother...

that carpet will be soaked and might NEVER dry out if you dont remove it...all the time its there it is feeding the rust underneath...
