ah, 210 floor boards 444-544

The question here is really for a friend, who has a 445 out in the wwods somewhere, with some sorry floor boards ( the front half at least). As for my 210, the previous owner was nice enough to recreate them in 7 layer plywood and fiberglass epoxy. I actually am grateful that I don't have to deal with them, at least until I get my foot ripped off while cruising down the highway on a rainy day.

Anyway, the question is...I found some 110 floor boards, front l and r. That is the late model 544. Does any one have any experience putting 544 or 110 floor boards in a 445 or a 210? With the proper size hole cut, would the 544 boards fit, or would the frame or of the 445 get in the way?

If no one has ever heard of this being contemplated, much less performed, then lets discuss the merits of plywood and fiberglass epoxy.

Why not just order a set of new floorboards that are correct for the car, thru the round fender register? Or one of the European suppliers.

I wouldn't have the slightest clue as to whether Duett and 544/444 floorboards are enough alike to bother with, but I don't think good marine plywood is a bad idea for floorboards. My Dad's '51 Jaguar XK120 has wood floorboards. I think they are probably a good deal quieter than steel, probably stiffer than steel. I don't know about the fiberglass epoxy, though. Plywood floorbaords would work best when securely fastened to a solid perimeter. Perhaps cutting out the rotten floorboard all the way to the vertical seams on all 4 sides, securely welding in some medium weight angle iron in a perimeter, then cutting a fitting board and bolting it in every 5 or 6 inches would work well, along with some silicone sealer.
