Do I have a limited slip Diff ? 200 1982

I purchased some 90-80W lubricant to refill my differential but it says not for limited slip.My car is a '82 244 DL 4-cyl gas K-jet FI MPG (4spd+OD) model built 1/82. Do I have a limited slip differential & how can I tell?

It is extremely unlikely that you have an LSD in your car. It was only an expensive dealer installed option. If still present, LSDs have a tag installed under one of the differential cover screws that identifies them as an LSD and specifies the proper lubricant. To verify lack of LSD, jack up one rear tire. Have the parking brake off and the transmission in neutral. Try to spin the jacked up rear tire. If it spins (and it will also spin the drive shaft), you don't have LSD. If you jack up both rear tires and try to spin one rear tire, with the transmission in neutral, both tires should spin together in the sane direction if you have LSD.

In a plain jane DL, probably not.

    Jack car up in rear:

look for tag on cover bolt

clean and read sticker on left axle tube

spin one wheel by hand, if other wheel spins opposite direction it's not a LS diff
