Questions about Electric Fan Conversion 1973 145 140-160 1973

I am just wondering if anyone has done this conversion on a 140 and if so do they have any tips or pointers or anything. I am going to be doing it and am just wondering what the best way to hook it up is and if any certain brand is better/easier to install or what. I am also wondering if to have it manually operated via toggle switch or have it switch on at a certain temp.
Thanks
John

Questions about Electric Fan Conversion 1973 145 140-160 1973

I just put an electric fan on my 73-145 after the bolt backed off the fan clutch and the fan ate the radiator. NAPA 12" fan can be installed puller or pusher. So far no problems. I have a manual switch but haven't installed it yet.The fan comes on just as I start to walk away from the car. Small but noticeable increase in power. Zip tied the adjustable thermostat to the radiator.Installed temp sensor where the hot side hose joins the radiator. Check for leaks.

Not sure why you want to do this. The 140/164 cooling systems are
quite good (although temp gauges frequently falsely indicate high temps).
If your car seems to be always running hot check it with a real thermometer.
If it really is hot and the cooling system is full and clean check your
thermostat and your ignition timing. A sticky thermo or timing not far
enough advanced will make them run hot. If it is not really hot, check the
little temp gauge voltage regulator on the back of your dash panel. if it
shorts it will make both temp and gas gauges read higher than they really
are.
