Can't find button? to reset 'Check Engine' light 700 1988

I was told that my Check Engine light always comes on to remind me that it's time to change the oil or perform maintenance or whatever. I'm on top of everything but I need to turn this light off. It comes on for about two minutes EVERY time the engine is started. Thanks

88 does not have a "check engine" light. It does have a "service" light. It trips every 5k for turbo, 10k for non turbo. Oil change/maintenance reminder. Air bag cars have a button on the speedo face under a rubber plug. Earlier non air bag cars have a button on back of the cluster in the speedo area.

On my '88 764Ti, the button is on the instrument panel, behind a small rubber plug in the lower part of the clear plastic. Remove the plug, push hard with a small tool (I've used a round toothpick), replace the plug, and you're set for another 5K miles.

Some people throw the plug away.
