Maintenance required indicator S90-V90 2002

I'm being told that the Maintenance Required indicator (oil change light) must be reset by the dealer now? My mechanic said that apparently it has changed from the 2001 models.

Is this true?

Where are you that you have a 2002 S90 or V90? I'm of the belief that 1998 was the last year Volvo built the RWD cars?????????

If you have a '97 or '98 S90 or V90 the service indicator reset is behind a small rubber plug in the face of the instrument cluster. Pull the plug, push the button with a pen of other suitable probe with the ignition on, then carefully replace the plug. (Careful so as not to push it all the way through.)

Yeah, I blew this one. It's a 2002 S80, not an S90. It's my first and only Volvo.

No. You can still reset it by pushing the trip button and turning on the key. The trip display must be T-1. There are 2 on the trip meter. T-1 and T-2. Toggle between 1 and 2 by momentarily pushing the button. To reset the service reminder, start with the key in position I. Make sure the trip display is in T-1. Press and hold the trip button and wait for the trip miles to reset to zero. Continue holding the button and turn the ignition to position II. Now wait for the trip mile display to return to the previous reading. When it changes, release the trip button and turn off the key.

I asked him about this and he said that procedure is the same as the procedure he got for the 2001 models and it didn't work on my car.

I tried it too and it didn't work.
