Query on brake + tach upgrade 200 1984

A two part question from a newbie. Does anyone know anything about improving braking? Besides replacing pads, calipers etc. are there any reputable performance improvements that fit 240s?
How complicated is swapping in a tach for the big clock on the dash? Is the process described online anywhere? Thanks folks.

If your car has solid front rotors, a relatively easy upgrade is to vented. You just have to get calipers for vented rotors, which became standard around '88 i think. They bolt on the same as the non-vented calipers, and then you just slap vented rotors in between them and your good to go, after a good brake bleeding of course. The worst part of that project for me was the darn brake lines being stuck in the old calipers...definitely get a flare nut wrench for the job, 11mm. as for the tach, the job is sickeningly easy. You just plug the new tach into the existing red/white wire, then there's even a spot on the back to power a little clock, if you have one. hope this helps

I have an 84 245 that the brakes are great. The 86 I drive is better that the wife's 88. Volvo brakes are usually considered good. You can change the pads and get crossdrilled rotors. Look on a turbo forum or site.

The tach upgrade can be a piece of cake. Your car may have the lead for the tach already in. Look for a red/white wire with an insulated female connector. The small clock needs a 3-wire harness between it and the back of the tach. The harness provides the constant power and dimmable lighting. Look on eBay.

Good Luck,

Bob
