Anyone out there know if a DIY like me can turn the "Service" light off? My car is a '89 745GL with 149K. I try and do most easier maintenance myself. Thanks in advance!

    If it's like my '91, you'll see a small rubber plug in the clear instrument face. The plug is symmetrical with the odo reset button.

    Pry out the plug using your thumbnail, push the button with a pencil point, and CAREFULLY push in the plug. If you push too hard, it'll pop through and then you'll have to do open heart surgery on the cluster.

    Your service light will be good for another 5k miles.

    Remove the rubber plug from the cluster face just in front of the speedo, push the button under the plug.
