Engine Mounts 200

Car vibrates at idle and at low speed.
My local service station tells me I need new engine mounts, and he can only get it from the Volvo dealer. Is this correct? There are no After-Market engine mount kits?
Also, what can I expect to pay for parts + labor?

Thanks,
---Jim

Note the difference in retail and "our price". Then remember your mechanic will probably charge you more like the retail price shown. If the parts come from Volvo they'll cost even more.

Groton has the hard rubber kind for under $10.00.

The last I knew the "reputable" Volvo shop around here was getting $65.00/hr for labor (the sound you just heard was me puking). That was a few years ago so it's probably more now.

What a crock. They come in multiple forms. The harder Swedish ones are as low as I would go though with Volvo at the top, as usual. I think the Scantech ones are close to OEM, maybe Boge-Sachs? Two hours should do it and still give him considerable profit. Somewhere $100-200 I would think. Of course, I would only spend the $35 for mounts and write off a weekend morning.
