AC hose replaced, how much oil to add? 200

I replaced comp, cond etc a few months ago and kept it r-12. last week I discovered the lower hose leaking when it wasn't cooling anymore. I replaced that and I'm wondering how can I determint how much oil to add to the system before recharging without removing the compressor and starting from scratch agian. IT's suposed to have about 8 oz in there. Am i just going to have to guess?

thanks for any help

Yes, somewhere between half and full charge of oil lost might be a good guess. I recall 200 ml of oil is a full chargelisted in the green manual for most compressors. It is not rocket science though so don't worry about it. It is amazing what some people get away with, just doing refrigeration by intuition.
