Here's an interesting nugget about those colored bulbs: I work in TV and film as a director, so I work extensively with lighting. When we put a mild blue "gel" on a light, it cuts the candle-power of the light IN HALF!
So if you buy those tinted bulbs, you could actually be reducing the brightness of your headlights.

    Just something to consider.

    yeah those blue bulbs suck

i had a pair of 80/100watts in mine and all they did was decrease my visibility
and when the road is wet, it's like your lights are off completely

try a pair of sylvania silverstars

I'd say not to bother - the tinted bulbs will decrease your visibility, especially in foul weather (rain, snow, fog). They are supposed to emulate the HID lights used in upper-end cars, and are strictly for poseurs... True HID lights are small arc lamps, and require high voltage & expensive electronics. The HIDs appear bluish because of the light spectrum emitted by the arc, but are a brighter white; the tinted bulbs get their color by filtering the light, passing more blue than anything else.

The "Xenon Blue" headlights were the rage among the rice rocket set here in Colorado a few years ago; after a single winter, I saw significantly fewer cars using them.

While expensive, your best options for better lighting is to convert to the european headlights.

I did see a few months back in european car magazine a test on aftermarket HID conversions - they replace H1 halogen bulbs, but I don't know if the have conversions for other bulb types. This conversion isn't exactly cheap, either, and requires custom wiring & fitting.
