Diagnostics

Do any of the electrical gurus out there have any experience of PC based oscilloscopes?
I have been looking at http://www.picotech.com/40_42_100.html
It seems that for less than £100/$150 US I could turn my old laptop into a very usefull tool to diagnose fuel injection and ignition problems.
I appreciate that using a scope requires a measure of skill to interpret results but that aside, what does everyone think of this idea?
Any thoughts/suggestions greatly appreciated.
Colin.

Used frequently: see some of the diagnostic companies (e.g. auto electric services in California http://www.aeswave.com/)sell nice packages for either laptops or handhelds. The trade literature has tips on how to use.
